Euro Decommissioning Solutions have sponsored a celebrity football match held at Sheffield FC helping to raise over £6000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service.
The game, which was held on 19th April at Sheffield FC’s home pitch the Bright Finance Stadium, was in memory of a local college student Francesca Anobile who died at Rother Valley in a tragic sledging accident earlier this year. A student and tutor from Norton College organised the celebrity event to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service who were in attendance on the fateful day.
The Celebrity All Star Team, made up of a host of well-known Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Shameless and Casualty actors was pitched against Chris Waddle’s Pro Footballers team of famous names such as David Hirst, John Sheridan, Chris Wilder and John Beresford. Students and tutors from Norton College also played in the teams and the Pro Footballers were the victors with a 6-3 win.
EDS sponsored the Celebrity All Star Team’s strip and all the shirts from the day were signed by the players and raffled off to contribute to the huge monetary total raised. Eddie Harter from EDS who co-ordinated the sponsorship said; “We felt that it was important that, as a local business, we should support this incredibly worthwhile charity event. Steven Ruff and his tutor Kevin Scott from Norton College worked tirelessly to organise the event and their hard work was evident in the success of the day and the money raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service.”
Event organiser Steven Ruff said; “This event was made possible by the generosity of EDS and Sheffield Football Club, in addition to the support of all the celebrity players. It was a fantastic day and we are delighted with the amount of money raised for the dedicated Ambulance teams who work so hard to save the lives of others.”
