Demolition of the INEOS Building
A project to remove asbestos and decontaminate process plant, equipment, pipe work, vessels and silos prior to deconstruction of the INEOS SFC building, tank farm, concrete bunds, bridge, silos and storage tanks.
There were restrictions to the project, particularly on access to enable the safe operation of the site during the demolition works, and existing site operability (manufacturing operations) throughout the duration of the project. However, eds overcame these issues and delivered the project successfully on time and on budget.
The work scope also included the construction of a permanent dividing wall following demolition.
The existing brickwork wall forming the new site boundary was left and the remaining elevation was fitted with new columns and rails which were clad with new steel profiled sheeting to match the existing scheme. Flashings and rainwater goods were also fitted as required.
All existing concrete floor slabs, hard standings and bund areas were removed. Following removal and disposal of slabs these areas were left in a flat condition free of any trip hazards to a level -600mm below the existing top of the slab level.
This ensured that the area was reduced to a suitable level to enable construction of a new facility.
eds were approached by Unilever and after a successful pre-qualification and tender process, eds were selected for the contract.
eds approached the works with a high degree of precision and thorough examination prior to the commencement of any works.
