Project Scope Full operational plant removal through strategic staged decommissioning encompassing demolition, dismantling, asbestos removal and land remediation for redevelopment.

From a competitive tender invitation,  eds successfully executed a multimillion pound turnkey project for Aventis Pharma Ltd.  The high profile project utilised several of eds's main business streams, which were strategically coordinated through stringent project planning to successfully deliver the project on schedule and to budget.

By applying experienced engineering techniques all perceived logistical interfaces were evaluated through rigorous health, safety  & risk assessments thus ensuring the optimum result for clients in relation to budget and programme.

The project, which was executed in stages whilst maintaining consistency through reporting, entailed:

  • Detailed assessments and surveys allowed total discrete asbestos removal from cement sheets, contaminated concrete and the entire chiller room plant through proximity containment enclosure work.
  • De-lagging and decontamination of all external ducting routes and drainage allowed accelerated decommissioning through multi-faceted activities, controlled and directed via eds site management.
  • Relocating existing plant & equipment and demolition of a prefabricated building to maximise safe plant access without disruption to adjacent operations.
  • Using eds's specialised equipment all site buildings were demolished and areas of contaminated land were remediated in accordance with company environmental procedures and standards thus providing the client with reusable land.
  • Through constant co-operation and communication with Aventis Pharma, eds minimised disruption and environmental impact.

Not only was the project successfully performed but by implementing turnkey project strategies, eds was able to incorporate multi-operational functions without the added cost of subcontract management thus delivering the project at a competitive price to client satisfaction.
